Canmore Wedding at Stewart Creek Golf Course
I first met Ryan and Katelynne on their wedding day at the Stewart Creek Golf Course in Canmore, Alberta. They had an intimate wedding planned during the Covid-19 pandemic, with just their immediate family. On this day in November, we were blessed with beautiful weather in Canmore. There was a light dusting of snow on the mountains, and the sun was barely peaking through the clouds during their ceremony. Just enough to keep the tent warm (with the help of the heaters – thanks Stewart Creek!)
Ryan + Katelynne didn’t have a lot of time to plan their wedding day at Stewart Creek in Canmore, but every part of it was perfect. The most important thing was that their family was there to celebrate with them. They built a stunning triangle shaped arch that provided a perfect backdrop against the mountains. Their ceremony was held in the tent provided by Stewart Creek Golf Course.
Shortly after the ceremony, we were able to take a lot of their couple portraits at Stewart Creek. Some of them were taken in one of the beautiful meeting rooms, and some on one of the tee boxes overlooking the mountains in Canmore. I can’t think of a more perfect setting for a winter wedding! Or a wedding at any time of year! The staff at Stewart Creek was so kind and accommodating, and because of Covid they ensured everyone was safe during the ceremony. Be sure to check out their website to inquire about your own wedding!
After we finished photos at Stewart Creek, we headed in to Canmore to take some more photos at Quarry Lake. This is a great location for wedding photos, as it is close to town and easily accessible. It is a dog park, so you may run into some friendly puppies! By this time in November it hadn’t snowed much, mostly just on the mountain peaks. So at Quarry Lake and our last two locations, we were easily able to walk around and explore.
Then we headed up the mountain just outside of Canmore to take some more photos at Whitemans Pond. The colour of the water was absolutely stunning, but the crazy wind and rain made for some chilly photos! But Ryan + Katelynne braved the cold and these turned out to be my favourite photos from the day. At Whitemans Pond, Ryan + Katelynne shared private vows with each other in an incredibly beautiful spot surrounded by a rock wall and bright blue-green water. They shared with me that it was important to them to have this time together after their ceremony, and it was a truly beautiful thing to witness.
We finished the day near the river in Canmore, and it was the perfect way to end it. Their wedding attire and florals blended perfectly with the mountain scene. Every time I look back at these photos I am reminded of the special day I had the opportunity to witness. It was magical in every way, and Canmore was the perfect backdrop for their winter wedding.
Here’s what Ryan and Katelynne had to say about their experience!
“Malorie is amazing. Not only is she extremely talented at what she does, she is such a kind and fun person. She captured every moment of our day beautifully, and I am so obsessed with the way our photos turned out! My husband and I were feeling nervous about getting the photos done because we are both awkward in front of the camera, but she made us feel so comfortable and we had a blast. I seriously cannot recommend her enough.”Ryan + Katelynne
